Nadir Bir Enfeksiyon Etkeni: Elizabethkingia anophelis; Türkiye’den Bildirilen İkinci Olgu

Elizabethkingia anophelis is a Gram-negative, aerobic, nonmotile bacillus belonging to the Flavobacteriaceae family. In recent years, it has emerged as cause of life-threatening infections, especially in immunocompromised patients. this study, 6-month-old baby patient with E. growth simultaneous tracheal aspirate and urine culture samples sent investigate etiology fever while being followed intensive care unit due diagnosis optic glioma presented. Bacteria identification was performed using VITEK MS® system, antibiotic susceptibility tests were 2 automated system gradient strip test. Our case second E.anophelis reported from Turkey. This showed that bacterium would start appear factor our country. More studies are needed obtain more detailed information about bacterium, determine its transmission routes resistance mechanisms establish appropriate treatment protocols.
